Rocktopia: Awake By Design - 'Sentiment' - CD Review

A Fireworks Magazine / Rocktopia album review by Steven Reid: My first experience of Awake By Design was at this year's excellent Fused Festival, and even though my learned friend and Fireworks colleague Paul Jerome Smith assured me that I would be most impressed by this UK gothic/progressive act, I have to admit to have being ever so slightly nonplussed. It wasn't that they were bad, although singer Adrian Powell's taste in purple velvet jackets certainly was, but somehow the music just failed to make the impact that I had hoped for.
