A Rocktopia / Fireworks Magazine album review by Mark Warburton: Following on from the excellent ‘Big Life’ album that I reviewed earlier on this year for this magazine & web site, Steve Newman returns with a new album ‘Under Southern Skies’ under his Newman banner. Although he has a live band, in the studio it’s Steve on vocals/guitar/keys with drummer Rob McEwan, and what’s on offer here as with anything that involves Steve Newman is hook-laden melodic rock songs with crystal clear production, catchy choruses and a very melodic disposition without any kind of rough edges.
