A Rocktopia / Fireworks Magazine album review by Ian Johnson: Billed as a traditional heavy metal band, Overdrive I think do themselves down by calling themselves that. This is because although they are heavy and love to use the double kick drum, they also incorporate a lot of hard rock elements into their music. Elements that help to give them, at times, a whole different sound from your usual trad metal band. The hard rock element can be traced to one of the band members, namely guitarist Janne Stark (Locomotive Breath/Constancia) whose playing, whilst heavy, still has many other facets to it, which only brings out the best in the music of Overdrive.
