A Fireworks Magazine / Rocktopia album review by Faya Coulman: Within rock 'n' roll's image-conscious ranks, pre-fame releases can prove something of a touchy subject, with over-inflated rock stars struggling to conceal a closet-load of amateur riffs and questionable hairdos. Not so with Bon Jovi axeman Richie Sambora, who, at the tender age of eighteen, demonstrated unmistakable star quality with little-known rockers Shark Frenzy. Spanning two volumes of remastered material, this collectible compilation positively oozes raw talent, showcasing an eclectic style that would later spawn the trademark hooks for which Bon Jovi are adored.
